The Santa Clara Chamber presents, “New Year’s in June, Remembering the Past, Celebrating the Future!”, the Annual Awards Gala. We are proud of the success of the 70 year journey so far, and now
begin the new year and the next chapter. Be there for the grand announcement! You’ll enjoy an evening of mingling and laughter, delectable dining experience, inspiration by David Quessenberry, community stars, next year’s board, fun and delightful auction items, and the surprise announcement we have been waiting to share. Keynote Speaker: David Quessenberry

Overcoming Adversity to Succeed

Winning the 2017 George Halas Award, which is given to a NFL player, coach, or staff member who overcomes the most adversity to success, David Quessenberry is the prime example of what perseverance, hard work, optimism, and determination can produce.

Starting as a walk-on at San Jose State Football, Quessenberry earned a scholarship and eventually led San Jose State Football to one of the most successful seasons in university history as a Team Captain. Quessenberry’s hard work earned him recognition as a finalist for the Burlsworth Trophy, an invitation to the 2013 Senior Bowl and NFL Combine, and to be selected in the 6th round of the NFL Draft to the Houston Texans.

In his second year with the Texans, Quessenberry was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphona. Although this would be a devastating blow to most, Quessenberry met this obstacle with unwavering willingness to success. After two years of battling cancer, Quessenberry’s cancer went into remission and he returned to the field.

About the Venue

The Napredak Hall was founded by Santa Clara families that immigrated from south of the former Yugoslavia including current Chamber member, Mariani's Inn. Napredak Hall was originally founded in Santa Clara at Lawrence Avenue and Homestead in 1926 as a location for families to meet every weekend and celebrate their traditions. In 1968, Napredak Hall moved to their current location and the original families are still shareholders in the organization. This location is an nod to the early beginnings as we celebrate the future of the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce!
